Tank Acceptance Policy

Albert Bros., like most other industries in Connecticut, has developed certain management practices in order to comply with the growing volume of environmental regulations. Some of the existing laws pertaining to underground storage tanks have caused many facilities to replace or abandon steel tanks. In order for us to accept these tanks as scrap, the following requirements must be satisfied:

  • All tanks used to store “gasoline”. MUST BE PRESSURE WASHED, CLEANED, rendered free of residual fluids. Combustible vapor levels must be at least 50% below the LEL (Lower Explosive Limit)
  • One end must have at least an 18 inch triangular cutout necessary for inspection and proper ventilation.
  • The owner of the tank must provide proof that it has been properly cleaned and certify in the space provided in the form that these requirements have been satisfied. A copy of this certification will be retained by Albert Bros. for our records.

Please return a signed copy of the form below to us prior to the delivery of the tank. Otherwise we will not be able to accept your used tank.
